What do I do when…

The EHCP annual review is coming up

A review is your chance to make the plan fit your child as they are now. A little preparation goes a long way.

Your rights

  • An EHCP must be reviewed at least every 12 months.
  • Reports for the meeting should be sent to you at least 2 weeks before it.
  • After the meeting, the council must tell you within 4 weeks whether it will keep, change or end the plan.

What to do

  1. Read the current plan and note what’s out of date, vague or not happening.
  2. Gather new evidence: patterns, attendance and new reports.
  3. Write down the points you want to raise and the questions you want answered.
  4. Afterwards, send a short email confirming what was agreed.
  5. Note the review date. The council must reply within 4 weeks.

How Aro helps

Aro checks the plan for vague wording, prepares your meeting points, and writes the follow-up email.
